Kelaniya University Alumni Association Australia Inc. presents "KELANI NITE 09" get-together and dinner dance at Oakleigh Mechanics Hall.

24th October Committee Meeting

Discussions were mainly focused on the planning and organising KelaniNite09.

28th September 2008 kuaa.com.au Regsitered

kuaa.com.au was registed as an Australian domain name and new website www.kuaa.com.au was launched

28th August 2008 KUAA REGISTERED

Application to register KUAA under Associations Incorporation Act 1981 was been accepted by the Registrar of Incorporated Associations. It is registered as an Incorporated association under registration no. A0052038C. Fantastic work by Ajith Kumarapperuma. Thank you for your time and effort. We also appreciate the effort by Mangalika Soolangaarachchi in organising consent letter from University of Kelaniya Vice Chancellor.

19th July 2008 KUAA Annual General Meeting

KUAA annual general meeting was held at   731 Waverley Road , Glen Waverley. Following members were present

Registration KUAA

An official approval from the Kelaniya University has been requested by Consumer Affairs prior to registration of the association. Mangalika Soolangaarachchi volunteered to get this organised.

Membership Drive

After a lengthy discussion following area coordinators were appointed to boost the membership

Subject to the financial situation, arrange to send a card or flowers when close relative of a member passes away. This was discussed as we experienced few such occasions lately

Extend possible help to new arrivals to Australia.

4th May 2008 Committee Meeting

The following issues were discussed at the committee meeting held on Sunday the 4th May 2008 at 60 Lechte Road, Mount Waverley - the residence of Kumara Tennakoon.

  1. The name 'Kelaniya University Association of Australia' and the acronym KUAA proposed by Sarath Piyasena were selected unanimously, out of the following names proposed via email by several members. Thanks very much to all those who responded.

    • Kelaniya University Graduate Association of Australia- KUGAA

  2. Following office bearers were appointed by those who were present at the meeting.

  3. Registration of KUAA:

    Public officer Kumara Tennakoon undertook to register KUAA as an incorporated association

     

  4. Emblem and Web Page:

    Sarath Piyasena and Bimba Dissanayake  agreed to design and construct a web page.

     

  5. Membership Fee:

    Membership fee of $20.00 per annum was decided by the committee. This would be per member or a member couple.

     

  6. KUAA events:

    It was decided to hold two events per year (i.e. with members and their families); That would be an out-door event in summer and in-door get-together in winter. In addition, a 'members only get-together' (i.e. including the general meeting ) would be held once a year.

    This year the 'Members only get-together and the general meeting' is scheduled to be held on Saturday the 19th of July. Please keep the date FREE as this would be our 1st general meeting and we would like to have your ideas and suggestions towards our indoor get together. More details would be informed next month.
